You just reminded me that I haven’t posted my latest photos to instagram!
Great photos, I want that red front door!
Posted by Amy @ MahliMoo | 15 February 2012, 7:30 amSadly, the red door is not mine, Amy. It’s from one of the old terraces in my local area, probably well over a hundred years old.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:46 pmI am trying to convince my husband to paint our front door red, or bright blue or similar… Will have to show him that picture!
Posted by Julie | 15 February 2012, 7:43 amWas he convinced, Julie?
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:47 pmAs always great photos Veronica
Posted by Rhianna (@aparentinglife) | 15 February 2012, 8:05 amThanks, Rhi.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 11:00 pmbeautiful earrings! And, like others I am a little bit in love with your red front door
Posted by Lyndal | 15 February 2012, 8:20 amThanks, Lyndal. The earrings were a gift and they are gorgeous. As to the door, it is lovely but I can’t take the credit. It’s the front door of an old terrace in my local area. It’s most likely well over a hundred years old. Thanks for dropping by.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:48 pmThe Photo challenge is so much fun and you have captured gorgeous pics…. I love your self portrait!! (you should frame it!!)
Posted by Java Jane | 15 February 2012, 8:43 amThanks, Jane. The idea for the self-portrait was actually a bit of a fluke shot but then I worked on the concept from there and am pleased which how it came out.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:51 pmOooh, i love your self portrait. Love it.
Posted by tiff | 15 February 2012, 10:19 amThanks, Tiff. The self-portrait concept was a bit of a fluke shot but when I saw the light and composition I worked on it the best I could and am pretty happy with the final product. Photography is a lot of trial and error sometimes, so I’ve learnt.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:53 pmHow exactly do you manage to take photo of a door and make it look like a work of art?
Posted by Tat | 15 February 2012, 11:11 amHa, ha! I don’t have a clue. I just liked what I saw and worked on the crop and took it from there. Thanks for the compliment, I think?
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:54 pmI failed miserably at the Jan photo a day so I have given up for now! Love your hands!!
Posted by Nicole | 15 February 2012, 11:33 amThanks, Nicole. There is a March photo-a-day coming up with Fat Mum Slim too. It’s not too late!

Posted by AI Sakura | 15 February 2012, 12:00 pmThanks, Ai. The blue earrings were a gift and very lovely too. They catch and reflect light so beautifully.

Posted by Sonia @ Life Love and Hiccups | 16 February 2012, 10:04 amThanks, Sonia. The concept for my self-portrait was a fluke but I loved what I saw and worked on it from there. For me, that’s part of the fun and creativity in photography.
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:57 pmwhat fabulous photos!! I love the self portrait! So insightful!
Posted by Yvette @ DTlilsquirts | 16 February 2012, 10:30 amThanks, Yvette. I’m pretty pleased, if I may say so, with what I created for the self-portrait too. I say this mostly because the initial concept was a mere fluke shot before I worked on it to get the final image. Without the fluke, I was a bit clueless where to take the self-portrait!
Posted by Mixed Gems | 26 February 2012, 10:58 pmI remember thinking, “Wow!” when I saw that red door on Instagram.
But I also love those earrings. They’re exquisite ! x
Posted by Grace | 20 February 2012, 2:09 pmThe beautiful earrings were a gift from a friend. As to the red door, Grace, I cannot claim any credit other than for the picture. It’s sadly not mine. I wish!
